Ferrous sulphate:
Ferrous sulfate monohydrate is obtained from a pickling solution containing ferrous chloride, hydrochloric acid and water and reacted in a precipitating reactor in the presence of excess sulfuric. Ferrous sulfate monohydrate is then converted in a crystallization reactor in the presence of water into ferrous sulfate heptahydrate as crystallized product. After which, water is isolated from the ferrous sulfate heptahydrate.

  • Uses:
    Stain concrete and some limestones and sandstones a yellowish rust color.
    Woodworkers use ferrous sulfate solutions to color maple wood a silvery hue.
    Combined with other elements, can be used as a general fertiliser.
    Ferrous sulphate heptahydrate can be used to obtain recyclable water from waste water by the same process.
    Insufficient iron intake can result in anemia. Many foods are fortified with extra iron such as cereals and certain types of bread.
